Hello hello hello! Here we go again, my top 10 songs for July 2021!
For those of you that are new here, WELCOME, this is #SnaxPack, a list of my monthly highlights/recommendations!
(It's not a requirement for any of the songs to have been released on the following month. The only requirement is for me to enjoy listening to it enough to recommend it!)
1. Vance and Suzzanne - I Can’t Get Along Without You
"Vance & Suzzanne consisted of Richard and his childhood friend and fellow band member Suzzanne Slaughter, who was a background singer for many bands in New York including Sister Sledge. The result of a late night writing session between Richard and Eleton and recorded to tape the following day, the record was finished in just twenty-four hours. Yet it’s legacy lives on as one of the most sought-after disco singles in existence. Two thousand copies of ‘I Can’t Get Along Without You’ were originally pressed to test the market, with the initial plan being to re-record it again at a later date with additional strings. However, the record received such great acclaim by DJs such as Larry Levan that the idea of a re-recording was put on ice. " Kalita Records
2. Peter Cat Recording Co. - Memory Box
Genre: Alternative 60s Bollywood/Pop/Gipsy jazz/Ballroom
"Straight out of Delhi, PETER CAT RECORDING CO. are a fabulous quintet who have been mixing up psychedelia, indie and big band moves for a decade. When band leader Suryakant Sawhney started out eight years ago he was making gypsy jazz while spending his evenings listening to Strauss. As time went on he recruited further members – ten in all (although about half of those have since left). New recruits brought their own ideas, and PETER CAT RECORDING CO. became a broad sonic church. Bollywood is the main influence, but to some listeners its more like spectral showtunes crooned from a parallel dimension." Shindig Magazine

"The duo Sjaak and Saux have been making music together for over 10 years, starting in their Amsterdam high school’s big band. They have since been following in the footsteps of indie R&B pop artists before them, racking up impressive streams on their debut self-titled EP. Recently supporting Far Caspian,Gus Dapperton and Rhye, City Park are steadily establishing themselves, gearing up for a sophomore EP in 2020 – their sound paralleling a nightly jam session in Vondelpark with Peter Gabriel and Blood Orange. "Katerine is a Greek-Canadian singer-songwriter currently based in Athens. Her acclaimed debut album 'Embodiment' was released in 2016 by Minos EMI/Universal Records and in 2018, her single 'Fire Away' was selected for an official television ad campaign on Canadian tv. Katerine's musical style channels the dark sonic timbres of Lykke Li and Jessie Ware and her trademark soulful rasp has earned her comparisons to Amy Winehouse. She rose to indie star status with her hit song One in a Million, her cover of Arctic Monkeys' Do I Wanna Know and her participation at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest, representing Greece. She has since collaborated and shared the stage with artists like LP, Albin Lee Meldau, Tom Baxter, Yasmine Hamdan, Oddisee, Kadebostany and has performed in prestigious venues and festivals across Europe such as The O2 Academy, Rockwave Festival, SNFCC, Megaron Concert Hall and Sofar Sounds/Amnesty International's global festival Give a Home." Eurovision
P.S.: SHE'S ALSO A SWEETHEART.
6. Still Woozy - That’s Life
"Real name Sven Gamsky, the Californian artist has been creating music for two years and amassed a relatively small but loyal following. His sound is distinctly Woozy – a mix of indie and electro-pop, each song is accompanied by his subtle but technically perfect vocals, so that they link together in a clear musical chain, like chapters in a book. He’s also a maestro on other instruments like guitar and keyboard, mixing his skills together to create a multi-layered sound." Red Brick
