1. Ruthven - Don’t Keep It To Yourself
Origin: England
Genre: Synth Funk, Alternative R&B
"Ruthven grew up in Catford, south east London, and comes from a family of pianists and multi-instrumentalists. “The jazz my mum was teaching her students in the next room from me (was) the real soundtrack to my childhood,” he says. When he was younger, his mother taught piano to a young girl whose dad was tight for cash at the time. “He offered payment via giving me drum lessons,” Ruthven says. “I suppose that was the start of my music-making journey.” dazeddigital

2. Amber-Simone - Black, No Sugar
Origin: England
Genre: R&B/Soul
"Amber-Simone is a fast emerging British born singer-songwriter, who has currently been paving her way through the industry, winning over fans and critics alike. Amber-Simone’s first three releases ‘Violet Light’, ‘Throwing Arrows’ and ‘I’m Feeling High’ have all received extensive coverage along with receiving widespread support from the BBC Radio 1 and Capital networks. After playing to sold out crowds at Birthdays, XOYO and Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Amber-Simone was then invited by John Legend to join him on his multi city UK arena tour. With a debut album in the works, Amber-Simone has been hotly tipped by the industry’s elite as one to watch. Her debut EP 'For Those Moments' was released in April 2019. " umusicpub

3. Eric Benét - Why You Follow Me
Origin: U.S.A.
Genre: R&B/Soul
"Eric Benét is a contemporary R&B singer with mild hip-hop and strong adult contemporary influences. As a teenager, he performed in a family vocal group (appropriately named Benét) with his sister and cousin. The group signed with EMI and released an eponymous album in 1992 that largely went unnoticed. Eric blazed his own trail as a solo artist shortly afterward, signing to Warner Bros. and releasing his debut album, True to Myself, in the fall of 1996." spotify

5. Dragonfruit - Know Better
Origin: Netherlands
Genre: alt-R&B
"Born out of a love for sample-hiphop and neo-soul’’. That is the foundation of the Rotterdam-based R&B group Dragonfruit. Influenced by the bouncy drums of hip-hop to the lush melodies of R&B and the energy of club bangers, the band puts itself on the forefront of the modern R&B landscape. With endorsements from blogs like EARMILK and KALTBLUT, performances in the legendary Paradiso venue and (inter)national radio play, the band is on its way to create a buzz for themselves with their unique take on soul and R&B." spotify

6. Amalia & The Architects - Love is in my room
Origin: Greece
Genre: Indie Pop/Rock/Folk
"Amalia & The Architects is the latest project of singer-songwriter Amalia (they/them). Based in Athens, Greece Amalia sites as influences The National, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Morrissey and Bod Dylan. Their sound combines indie pop, folk and rock elements.
The project started out as a collaboration between Amalia and two students of architecture, hence the name. They started in 2018 by playing at small local venues. In 2019 they were the supporting act for Anna Calvi and Courtney Barnett and in 2020 they released their first single as a band called Murder and Create. The Architects left the project but Amalia decided to keep the name, being an Art History student and architecture enthusiast. Some of the themes they explore are isolation, selfishness, gender identity and communication."

7. Ásgeir - Going Home
Origin: Iceland
Genre: Alternative/Indie
"Deriving from folk roots and a scope of other personal influences, Icelandic singer-songwriter Àsgeir is an artist who approaches emotional expression with sincerity and vulnerability. His father, Einar Georg Einarsson, is an accomplished writer that helped inspire much of Àsgeir’s perspective and work, including co-writing the debut song off of his forthcoming album, "Living Water", which serves as a paean to Iceland’s astonishing natural resources, and the urgent need to protect them." spotify

8. Laville - Easy
Origin: England
Genre: R&B/Soul
"For a long time music was Laville's biggest secret. His songwriting, and those dreams were always something he kept hidden. Laville needed to live his life first. "I had to live my life first before I could write my music," he insists. "I couldn't write it at the same time because I was too in the moment, I was living a faster life than I am now”. He studied, he travelled, and he worked - everywhere from top London venues to Michelin starred restaurants. He began to fill this space with music." spotify

9. Thea - Inside out
Origin: England
Genre: Alternative/Indie/Pop
"Inspired by the likes of India Arie, Corinne Bailey Rae, All Saints, Aretha Franklin, and Stevie Wonder, Brit School graduate Thea Morgan-Murrell has taken her pop influences and given it a modern and controlled spin to create a sound that she describes “classic songwriting with soul, and a ‘less is more’ approach to production”. Mixing rich vocals, pure story-telling talent and slick neo-soul pop with music box sounds and elements from her favourite childhood movies. Whatever she does, expect it to feel real, human, and essential – the type of work that can only come from someone born to make music" spotify

"South London singer/songwriter and Brit School alumni Jaz Karis is a strong force to be reckoned with. The intelligent & creative lens in which she views life translates in her music. The sweet tone to her voice tells the stories of her real life experiences through her soul, jazz and R&B infused music.
