1. Maanu - Melancholic
Origin: Pakistan
Genre: Indie/Hip Hop/Rap
"Maanu, or Rehman Asfar as he is properly known, is from Lahore, Pakistan. Fed up of mainstream artists releasing one cover after another, he decided to start writing his own music. But he didn’t take himself seriously until he heard the completed version of one of his own songs — with the accompanying instruments, the vocals, final production etc." images.dawn
This song has been the soundtrack of my last week in Greece. My friend Stathis introduced me to this track and I fell in love. Now that I'm back in the UK, I actually feel melancholic, so this song really speaks to my heart.

2. Joy Crookes - 19th Floor
Origin: Ireland, England, Bangladesh Genre: Pop/ Indie
"Born and raised in Elephant and Castle, Joy Crookes musical journey has garnered Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill comparisons. The daughter of a Bengali mother and an Irish father, she grew up listening to an eclectic mix of genres – everything from Nick Cave, to King Tubby, Kendrick Lamar and Gregory Isaac and as a result she’s curious, passionate and music obsessed – traits that creep into her own creations at every opportunity. Joy’s universally appealing sound and knack for smart, modern storytelling and her candid, fearless attitude has seen grow ever amassing fanbase waiting avidly for her next move." sony
I'm quite obsessed with this artist, as you can probably tell from my previous #SnaxPack. Her voice is so unique, her lyrics really mellow and descriptive and she is just extremely charming. I was lucky to see her live recently and she does not disappoint!

3. Crosby, stills, young & Nash - Helplessly Hoping
Origin: U.S.A.
Genre: Folk rock/Country rock/Soft rock
Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN) was a folk rock supergroup made up of American singer-songwriters David Crosby and Stephen Stills, and English singer-songwriter Graham Nash. When joined by Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young as a fourth member, they are called Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY). They are noted for their lasting influence on American music and culture, and for their intricate vocal harmonies, often tumultuous interpersonal relationships, and political activism. Wikipedia
I loved listening to this while in a car, driving by the Greek countryside, up the mountains. They're whole discography is perfect for road trips. One day I hope I'll listen to their music while driving on American roads.

4. Nelly Furtado - All good things (come to an end)
Origin: Canada, Portugal
Genre: Pop
"When Nelly Furtado appeared with her neo-hippie, multiculti debut Whoa, Nelly! in 2001, a dance-diva makeover seemed like an impossibility, but the singer/songwriter revived and sustained her career with the sexually charged Loose in 2006, and in the process, consolidated her position as one of the most unpredictable artists of her decade. Furtado always proudly displayed her Portuguese heritage, a distinction that separated her from legions of emerging female singer/songwriters in the early days of the new millennium, but her uniqueness didn’t end there: she had an ear for elliptical yet memorable melodies, and a taste for Brit-pop balanced by an immersion in modern R&B and hip-hop. All this surfaced on Whoa, Nelly! and its hits "Turn Off the Light" and "I'm Like a Bird," but she really pushed her rhythmic influences to the forefront on Loose, resulting in "Promiscuous" and "Maneater," her biggest hits yet, suggesting that Furtado had many avenues yet to explore." Spotify
Nelly Furtado always reminds me of my high school years. When I'm feeling nostalgic, I find myself looking for her music. This song and "I'm like a bird" are 2 of my most favourite songs of hers.

7. Matt Maltese - Rom-Com gone wrong
Origin: England
Genre: Alternative/Indie
"In entering his twenties, Matt Maltese has transformed as a songwriter. A year ago this month, at age 19, the Reading, England-born musician self-released his debut EP In a New Bed, a set of downcast ballads recorded in his bedroom and written out of heartbreak. Now, he assesses the surreal nature of the day-to-day with humor, depth, and charm. In the case of “As The World Caves In,” a track released last month, he wrote a love song for President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Theresa May. Together they initiate a nuclear apocalypse, and atomic warfare plunges the paramours toward the end of the world. Today we’re pleased to premiere the song’s music video, directed by Sam Hiscox, below." interviewmagazine

9. Lewis Taylor - Lovelight
Origin: England
Genre: Neo Soul/Psychedelia/Prog rock
"Lewis Taylor is a British singer and multi-instrumentalist whose music covers a broad spectrum of genres, including soul, psychedelia, rock and pop. In 1996 and 2000, his debut album and follow-up were released on Island Records to critical acclaim but the label found his unique mix of genres difficult to promote and so they parted company. In 2002, this time on his own label Slow Reality (an anagram of his name), Lewis released Stoned Pt. 1 – the track ‘Lovelight’ was later covered by Robbie Williams on his Rudebox album - Stoned, Pt. 2., Limited Edition 2004, The Lost Album and In Session 2005. He then decided to step away from the music industry and take some time out for himself. In June 2021, Lewis announced on his website and social media that he was working on a brand new album, to be released later in the year." spotify
